He (Jabba) has managed to trap Han Solo on "Vanguard", a smuggler transit station near Ord Mantell. So he connected all the important bounty hunters (and the mer- cenary Kyle Katarn). Katarn, who got no new jobs from the Rebels since the Dark Forces conflict, and who got a chance to make peace with his former rival Jabba couldn't afford to reject it. Though knowing that Solo has sym- pacy with the Rebels, little does Kyle know that he is not a scoundrel. So he accepts the job... Besides other bounty hunters as opponents, Kyle has to reckon with the base personnel who won't tolerate any disorder, as well as with the Imperials who launched a reconnaissance troop onto the base, searching for the Rebel Fleet. But in the middle of the hunt Kyle gets his eyes open to the real state of things... FOR FURTHER INFORMATION & BACKGROUND INFO, READ THE FILE "BOUNTY.BGD" ================================================================ Title : The Bounty Hunt Special Edition Filename -Level : bounew!.zip -Cutscene : bou_cut!.zip Author : Peter Klassen Email Address : p.klassen@ndh.net Peter The Hutt Palace : www.ndh.net/home/klassen/ Misc. Author Info : A 20-year old SW & DF fan, this being my 2nd DF level. Description : Kyle must capture Han Solo for Jabba, then return to his ship. See also BOUNEW.BGD and the briefing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT'S CHANGED? - The loading bug is away!!! (Thanks to Adam Burnett) (disadvantage: I had to remove most enemies from the market place, so it's a lesser challenge now). :-( - Civilians will die now when shot at (not some vendors tho') - Imperial Shuttle arrival with stereo sound effect - Corrected minor bugs like Boba Fett stuck in the small conv. room - There's a hidden Boba Fett running by, find it (not really hard) - Corrected TIE Fighter VUEs, sounds added - The TIE at the end is a T/I now according to the cutscene - Bneebo talks now audible - 2 more dialogues: with Moff Rebus and Draem Fold (as a hint) - Ambient sounds rationalized. Now you don't hear the band at the market place or the market place in the hotels - Fixed partially "patchwork" texturing in bad places - Added some new textures - Fight music transitions corrected (yes, I *can* handle iMUSE!) - Screen font changed - Updated intro & credits. Bounty Hunt Special Edition DOES work with the normal Bounty Hunt cutscene (BOU_CUT!.ZIP). Further, it does not replace your Bounty Hunt files (Bounty.*, Bounty1.lfd) but exists parallelly(Bounew.*, Bounew1.lfd). The briefing file Bounty2.lfd is the same in both cases. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I WISH TO THANK TO: Yves Borckmans --- the creator of DFUSE and WDFUSE. IN THE PACKAGE, THERE ARE 2 (or 3) LFD FILES. WHERE MUST I PUT THEM IN? The Bounty package contains 2 LFD files: BOUNEW1.LFD --- Logo, crawling text, credits BOUNTY2.LFD --- Briefing The Bou_cut package contains one LFD yet: BOUNTY3.LFD --- Start and end cutscenes for Bounty Hunt LFDs have the following order of priority (that means, if you have 3 different LFDs with same names, the one with higher priority will be loaded): \DARK directory > \DARK\LFD directory > Dark Forces CD That means, if you already have a DFBRIEF.LFD in your DARK\LFD dir, and set another one into your DARK dir, the one in the DARK dir will be used. Due to the wrong LFD placing in my Yavin level by many of the users, many could not read the briefing and so were not able to get out the code for the last code lock. In the Bounty Hunt, there aren't such traps. You needn't to know anything from the briefing to be able to get thru. And if you will copy the BOUNEW1.LFD and BOUNTY3.LFD into your DARK\LFD dir, nothing wrong will happen. The only requirement is to put BOUNTY2.LFD into your DARK dir, because when being started, the Bounty batch file copies it to DFBRIEF.LFD in order to be able to load the briefing. When quitting, this DFBRIEF.LFD is erased. That's why you should start Bounty Hunt only by BOUNEW.BAT. But for better order, I recommend you to put all the 3 LFDs into your DARK directory. THE PACKAGE The BOUNTY SE package consists of 6 files: BOUNEW.GOB --- The level BOUNTY.BAT --- The level launcher BOUNEW1.LFD --- The cutscene (logo, credits) BOUNTY2.LFD --- The Briefing BOUNEW.TXT --- This file BOUNEW.BGD --- The background info The BOU_CUT package contains: BOUNTY3.LFD --- The opening & ending cutscenes. Introducing a self-rendered Crow sequence, and Jabba live! Fully orchestrated. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use this level as a base to build additional levels.
