It was Easter and I was Beta Testing Brad Olivers "DFLE V 0.96". It works quite well now, and I was having such a good time using it that I started fantasizing about making an add-on mission, and the story below popped into my head. I was overwhelmed by the "inspiration" and spent all my spare time for 4 days creating this mission. ------------------- MISSION BACKGROUND ------------------- Easter Attack: Imperial Forces have learned that "Revives" and "Extra Lives" are the product of an obscure religious group located on a far distant primitive planet circling a G2 spectral type star in the "Milky Way" galaxy. Until now the only source that the Imperial Army has had for "Revives" and "Extra Lives" was what they could steal from the Alliance or purchase from smugglers. Imperial Forces planned their attack to coincide with an ancient religious Holiday called "Easter". This annual celebration is the only time during the year when "Revives" and "Extra Lives" are produced in any quantity. The final steps of the production, which is a closely guarded secret, takes place during an obscure secret religious ceremony (the Eucharist) at a secluded monastery in the Beaujolais region of a country called France. The practitioners of this religion celebrate "Easter" in memory of a day in their ancient history when the "Son" of their deity was caused to "rise again from the dead". Modern scientists believe that this phenomena did occur, and was a result the obscure chemical properties found in a consecrated liquid that was used to anoint the body of the deceased "Son" in preparation for his burial in a tomb. History records that around the end of the "Fossil Fuel Era" it was discovered that this liquid, was found to possess medicinal properties (decreased heart attacks, etc.) when consumed daily in moderate quantities. It appears that the French monks researched this phenomena and through experimentation developed a process for isolating and extracting the causative compounds, which in less refined forms are used to produce "First-Aid Kits" and "Revives" and in a highly refined form to produces "Extra Lives", which as we all know, can restore life to the dead. The Alliance has learned that the Imperial Forces sent an occupying force to the planet. Supported by a large contingent of Gomarhan Guards they have occupied the monastery. Numerous Gomarhan Guards volunteered for this attack. This species is especially susceptible to heart problems, primarily resulting from their uncontrollable appetite and resulting weight problems. They are highly motivated to capture an unlimited supple of "Revives" and "Extra Lives", as these are known to cure most of their health problems, allowing them to eat all they want even if it kills them! In their enthusiasm to take over the Monastery, they inadvertently destroying the Sacred Refinery, killing most of the monks. Father Vino escaped to notify the Alliance of the attack. Before leaving he concealed the Sacred Refinery Plans in a secret room in the Church. The Imperial Army has taken over the church facilities and are attempting to decipher the technology that is used to produce the "Revives" and "Extra Lives". Your mission is to recover the Sacred Refinery Plans. Father Little John cautions that the church is booby trapped too discourage petty thieves. You are encouraged to use the ample supplies of "Revives" and "Extra Lives" to your best advantage, you will need them to overcome the overwhelming odds against you! Caution: excessive consumption of "Revives" can produce an intoxicating effect. -------------------- MISSION OBJECTIVES -------------------- Enter the church. Eliminate the occupying forces. Find the supplies of Revives and Extra Lives that are hidden in Secret Rooms. Recover the Sacred Refinery Plans and remove them from the facility. Load all of the "Extra Lives" and "Revives" into your ship and return with them to the Alliance. Caution: excessive consumption of "Revives" can produce an intoxicating effect. Good Luck, God Bless and may the Force be with you! *************************************************** Dark Forces is a registered trademark of Lucasarts Entertainment Co. and they do not provide technical support for these Add-Ons... so don't ask them to!
