This is a map I made for Elite Force that I've converted to Jedi Knight 2. It has kindly been rendered for me by those chaps at Ravenssoft until JO radiant comes out. This map will be part of a MUCH bigger Cloud City map later this year with the Falcon that you can walk inside which is being made by my friend [XG]Darth Vader.

OMG OMG OMG!!! THE GANTRY!!! WOOHOO!!! Great work, In your previous showcasing of this map I thought that the outside of that building would look too large and blocky to portray the true feeling of the map, but I am wrong. It looks spectacular. Could you tell me how I can get a hold of Raven if my map is done before their SDK comes out? It would be a great help, Thanks.

I give it an 8, great level for an EF to JO conversion! Now I know you can't do much at the moment without an SDK, but here are suggestions for a future SE version or remake that could make it a classic JO level (it almost already is).

1. Fix the funky colored sticks that result when breaking those two objects.

2. Change many of the textures, such as the Carbo Freeze floor with the red glowpanels, the textures on the big open shaft, to the ones in JO, or, the ones more commonly seen in JO.

3. Add fog to the Carbo Freeze area, it woudl create an awesome effect and mood!

4. Add red light to the Carb area.

5. Add a functioning carbon freezer like the one in MotS (would take some work, might not be worth it).

6. Add the machine/computer-like hum to the envirnment, just like in the movie, to create a more moody admosphere.

7. Any other enhancements one could think of...

Again, those are just suggestions for the future when the SDK is released. But like I said, great level! Much better than the original JO carb freeze level.

as this is a fraction, i give it a 9, anyway, this map rocks, u need to make more traps, that frezzing chamber thing is a good trap, but its hard to square them right in the middle

I already posted a comment, but I really need to know why the bots are so damn jumpy in this level. I start the game and all the bots are just jumping around, flipping and slashing, they never ever stay on the ground, you can't hit them it a bit like a Super Mario game. Am I doing something wrong or is this something that's is part of the level, which is still great, but the jumpy bots do tend to take the fun out after a while
Help anyone??

Nice work man, looks just like the one off MotS but the textures are much, much better.

You even included that depressurisation when you break the window (in movie and MotS)

Very nice work, gave it a 9 -would've been a 10 if you had made your own map (this allready done in MotS)

Great Level love the Gantry.....

Just one thing, Im trying to load the map into singleplayer so i can spawn some guys to fight on the gantry (much better than Bots)but i get error message.... ERROR Missing 1 sound sets.!
when i enter :- devmap ffa_carbonfreeze...
and level fails to load.! any one help??

Very good work... the lighting could stand to be a bit darker in the actual freezing chamber and it would be cool if that window was breakable, but I understand that that is impossible without the SDK. All we need now are some good Vader and ESB Luke skins and someone can convert this into a decent SP level...

The architecture and all is good but the gameplay surely isn't that good. perhaps with no bots it's ok.
First of all it's too laggy.
Secondly I won on jedi master skill with 15 to -2, -2, -3, -7, -12, -13, -14.

Nice level! Keep up the good work! I'm glad somebody made the feezing chamber w/ the gantry and all. In MotS that was prob. my favorite DM level. That whole Cloud City map would kick ass. All we need know is a Bespin Luke and a cool Vader. A+++

Hi again. I agree with Anthony on some of those things. That would be great if the window was breakable and stuff. I didnt try it but can you knock people into the freezing chamber and freeze em? And (I don't make maps, mods, etc.) whats SDK? And is there an expansion coming out for JKII? Plz get back to me someone. Thanks.

If you're talking about that circular window, I broke it open. When I did, a crap load of XYZ lines popped up around it, then after a while, they each disappeared. Again if this is what you're talking about, I LAUGH AT YOU! BWAHAHAHA!!!

This is a pretty awesome level except for the fact that all the bots do is commit suicide. I can't wait untill the rest of it comes out.

But what's up with those red\blue\green fragments when you break that gantry window thing?

Anyway...a great level and the first addon JO MP level released, so I'll give it a 9!

Well I guess looks aren't everything.

There were some annoying niggles in this level, and whilst I can't rerate it, I'll give it a seven here and now.

Yes, it looks lovely, yes it's a very good representation of a damn fine level, but it is let down by:

Bots that are clearly making a bid to fly.

XYZ lines on breakable parts.

Elite Force and even WATER sound effects when you step on some consoles.

Weird carbon chamber textures (the JO ones are quite adequate in my view) and no coloured lighting in that area.

I know I'm being hard hitting and critical and that I couldn't make a level to save my life, but it's just annoying when things like this stop this good level from being a GREAT level.

Of course it's early days and the full Cloud City version that we are being promised could well rock. But this is a level I can't play. The bots don't work, and it would be just too laggy online with the huge open areas outside.

Not terrible, not bad, just good, but not overly excellent as I was expecting it to be.

Keep up the good work though and I look forward to the next release. Hopefully with a full on JORadiant behind it, it should work better! What's here IS good, but it doesn't feel quite finished.

I think that JORadiant will be the same... It may include like, advanced skining... ect. But LucasArts/Raven hadn't really promised anything that their radiant will be any different to q3. If someone would be so kind as to give me the link to which one or the other had said that.

Is that a Darth Maul skin I see up in the corner? When do we get to use it, eh? I think it would be good. This looks like the perfect level for a saber fight. This game can support battles that run close to the intensity from Episode I, in terms of how they look, feel, and run. (toast to LEC), now we just need those skins and a Duel of the Fates arena complete w/ music!

Liked it... but a lot of things could be different.

First off, remember when Luke gets sucked into the venting system after Vader tells him aabout their relation? You should put that in, being sucked in there, and just die or someting. It just makes it more intresting than falling to the floor.

Second, the bit where you break the window? Make it so someone gets sucked out if they get too near everytime, not just when you break it. And don't make it as powerful. You go zooming over to the other side of the arena, making the platform below it useless.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. Like the guy above said, use the orginal carbon chamber textures in SP. Looks much better that way. And does the freezing actually work? I can see the cracks for where the thing opens, but when I press the button, nothing happens. Does someone have to be standing on it? I'll have to try it.

All in all, it's a pretty kickin' level. Good job. Gave it an 8.

I just noticed that dreetje31 was being ignored... The problem is with bots is that in all the other levels there is a set path for the bots to follow, allthough they go off path if they find a target, and in this level they have no data to tell them whats a floor and whats not or how to walk in a strait line, so they do what everybody would do, go crazy while jumping up and down as a result of mass confusion... that's what I would do anyway.

Heh, those Quake 3 bots are funny. In Unreal Tournament, if the bots don't know where to go, they just stand still, not jump like crazy like the quake 3 bots do.

I wish I could comment on this level but I have yet to buy a copy of JO. By the screenshots though, it looks like a good level. I'm impressed that someone managed to create a JO level without the SDK. Anyhow, once I get JO, I'll rate this level.

I also saw that Darth Maul pic up in the corner as some1 earlier mentioned...was this created by the level author or did he get it somewhere else? Either way i'd like to have it.

but yes the level looks good from screen shots, havent downloaded it yet, w/ my 56k it will probably take half an hour or more just for something of that size. If the new version of this has those suggestions above put into it though, i think that it would be worth all the time to download.

There are many bugs and it could be much better, do not overrate a map just because it is the first one to come out.

This an email I got from the author which should clear up some things. Hmm, did anyone else get this e-mail?
"yep i used Original textures for Core in my carbon freeze map
it was bespin/shaftwall

i was going to use the carbon room texture for the floor but in the end just used the ones for the stairs because

1. their textures didnt fit ???
2. they are no where near the same as in the movie
ive compared them to a screenshot i took and laughed till i fell off my chair HAHA even told the ravens bloke this and he agreed.......
Dont worry though i shall add that floor light of mine to a decent texture and make it glow

Raven did bugger up the bsp of my map what with the carbon room pit being to fast
glass shards werent there when ya break window
water texture
Texture wasnt aligned in 1 bit
ALL MODELS WERE MISSING even though they were there on first beta test ???????? and the bot roams i added for raven to change to jk2 ones WELL they didnt do it thats why bots jump about

Keeping in mind that the map is only a fraction of what the end product will be, I still have to critique it:

1) The window everyone's talking about bugs me too. XYZ lines scare me :)
2) The outside (in the freezing chamber?). There's a ledge that one gets to by falling down a shaft...there's gonna be other ways to get there, right?
3) item clumps
4) and the stairwell is really to big and clunky.

Saiyaman V, just put it in your Gamedata/base/ folder and it should replace the default Carbon Freeze level. Don't mess around with any console stuff. You'll know its working when the level selection has a different screen for the Carbon Freezing Chamber.

I gave it a 7 for several reasons.

Texturing was ok, but I did see quite a few mis-alignments.

When I played against Bots, all they did was jump around. Weird, I know, buts it's true.

But on the plus side, the expansive areas to explore were quite nice, not to mention visually stunning. Very atmospheric as well. I thought I was watching Empire Strikes Back, the interactive version.

Its really too bad that Force throw was not implemented in this game, and Darth Vader and Bespin Skywalker were omitted as well.

Needs health spread out more, too many health packs togethor, Makes it way too easy to stay alive by running gathering them coming back with 100 health/shields. Spread them out more and have less of them in the level and it will be one of hte most played/best levels.

The bots are screwed up. When I played within a minute Luke, Jedi_Trainer,Reelo and Lando all had a score of -8...I quit because the bots can't touch the ground. It might be a good level if you have a bunch of MP friends, but if they arn't on then you play bots. THEY SUCK!!!!!

I give this a 5 because of such a HUGE oversite...hopefully it won't be hard to correct. The level design is awesome though. Really huge. Just PLEASE correct that oversite and it'll be a DEFINATE ten.

Looks pretty good. Those coloured bits when you break stuff on the gantry are a bit funky. But, this map is slooow. Runs slower than any of the official maps.

I have 5 major critiques
Firstly, the graphics are only so - so, especially the chamber itself. I think if you add more graphic quality to the level it will be much better. In other words, instead of adding the rest of cloud city, expand upon this level.
Secondly, i feel claustraphobic in this level, perhaps a good think to do would be to 'up the scale' a bit.
Thirdly, the level feels a bit overly simplistic, and while it's true to the movie in some ways, i think you should watch the movie again and try to emulate it better. I know that's tough, but i think this level woudl be just awesome if the shapes were more clearly defined. You know, go through it and add another step up in terms of detail. These things matter
Fourthly, I felt that the design of the chamber was wierd. Even in the movie i thought that, but now i'm confused. In the movie, you dont see the walls of the chamber, you see a bloe glow. Things like that, or the window really add effect. You could add depth to the 'pit', and maybe make it so that 'movie' stuff can happen easier. Script stuff, that sort of thing so that you can actually progress through the level as our characters in the movie did.
Lastly, I think it was an ambitious project, and that this level is great but needs some work, and so i would suggest now that the software is available, going through and 'expanding to it, so that you have 'more options' and the level is less liniar.

i think it's a great level, however, and i'm critiquing you by professional standards, so don't hear me saying it's bad, but i think you could really blast the pants off of people with just a little more work.

ahhhh great first level for JK2! Its really good. I give it a 10 :) I had lots of fun trying to figure out how to get on the things on the sides of the ship sticking out....after awhile i figured it all out. :) and i like the idea of adding that invisible wall near the bottom....you may be able to add this in with some sort of strategies you might have (HINT HINT). anyways, good job :) and i hope you come out with more great levels like this one!

Such an awsome level, perfect detail and all. I give it a nine, the only thing I didn't like was the bots jump around crazily. I haven'ted DLed this map in a while, so you might have updated it

Bickly you shut up. Youre the one who posted that stupid kyle skin without any changes. This level is cool accept for the bot problem. That can be fixed. I sincerely doubt that very many people could match this caliber of level making.

This level is great. You remained faithful to the best parts of the original while adding some really great parts of your own. The only problems I saw were the suicidal bots that others pointed out and the air current that leads to the botton rarely slows me down. I can't wait to see the bigger one your planning.

I dont think you can make JO slow you in a fall. But ive come up with a nifty idea
If i place a mesh down the shaft that has the invisble SLIP texture then aim it towards the hole luke is sucked into. I can then make people slide into that hole =]]]
Ive just started work on next version. Totally remade as i know now what whole carbon room looks like =] THANK YOU STARWARS FACT FILES
The Main shaft is 1 huge mother , i mean big as in you can fit 4 ctf_bespins into it sideways and it is the height of the whole jk2radiant drawing area so takes 20 seconds to fall from the very top =]]
FPS for me was 90 so now slowdown from it either WOOHOO =]

iTS ACTUALLY VERY MUCH LIKE THE mots version, except in the cfr several halls led to what looked like a door but it was a wall. i rate a 6
