Other places to play and edit JK

1. The Dedicated JK & MotS Servers hosted by JKDF2.NET

Type in this redirect in the TCP/IP box:

JKDF2.GAME-HOST.ORG

With the return of the Internet Gaming Zone, the JK Dedicated Server may be no longer active though.

2. The JK Community on IRC

IRC channels are chatrooms where people can chat, organize games, exchange files, help eachother with editing, etc.
To find the various channels, you need to connect to a server and a channel.
There are several channels for JK, some for editing and some for gaming.
For JK Editing, by far the best place to visit is
#jkhub.
There are several ways to join IRC channels:

A. If you're using the Mozilla Firefox webbrowser, simply install the ChatZilla Add-on.
B. Download Pidgin, an Instant Messenger Program that handles
MSN (Live Messenger), Yahoo Messenger and IRC.
C. Download Trillian (Something similar to Pidgin)
D. Download mIRC

mIRC is a freeware program that allows you to join IRC channels.
Once you have downloaded it, install it. It is a freeware trial version that can be evaluated for 30 days.
It stays fully functional after expiring though, so no worries.

JK IRC CHANNELS:

(DISCLAIMER)

There have been numerous changes in servers and channels being used by the JK community.
As a result, there is much confusion about where to go and where not to go.
The information below may be outdated.

Server                                     Channel

irc.gamesurge.net                           #jasclan

irc.enterthegame.com             #narshaddaa

irc.zirc.org                                                #jk

irc.zirc.org                                     #jkgames

irc.zirc.org                                             #nar

irc.zirc.org                               #narshaddaa

Other JK Related Channels:

irc.synirc.net         #jkhub  (For JK editors)

irc.zirc.org                                   #massassi

3. Download Xfire

Xfire supports JK. It does not support mods, however, just regular JK.

4. Download Gamespy

Gamespy supports JK as well. I don't know if it supports mods though.

The Return to the Gaming Zone

In 2004 the Evil Galactic Empire decided to discontinue its support for JK on the Zone.
After years of exile on IRC, during which our only hope was the JK Dedicated Server hosted by
NarShaddaa.Net / JKDF2.Net, the Dark Times are over.
The Jedi may finally return to their homelands and reclaim their heritage.
So download the Hyperspace Coordinates and make your way over to
Nar Shaddaa!

This is what you need to do:

1. Go to http://www.igzones.com/user/register
2. Register  a Username and Password
3. Download the Client from the Main Page: http://www.igzones.com/
4. Install it, log on, and make your way over to the Nar Shaddaa room
in the
Jedi Knight DF 2 section

The
International Gaming Zone looks and functions just like the good old Gaming Zone.
It works with JK Patch Commander (for running your JK Mods) and even has a
ZoneFriends feature!
The client runs on its own and does not require the use of the Internet Explorer webbrowser.

More and more people are returning, so sign up now and join in the fun!

This is how it looks:
