First Impressions
This level may have been a little on the small side, but that was made up for with great architecture and gameplay. Now, on to the review.

Design / Visuals
Architecture in Siege at Vol Kanst was excellent; it had a lot of great detail throughout the entire level. There were a lot of support beams interesting gadgets on the walls. For instance, instead of just putting a computer panel texture on a section of wall, the author built a three dimensional computer kiosk jutting out of the wall. This level also made great use of sloped surfaces, using ramps and sloped beams, and even sloped doorways. There was a very intriguing set of steps in the cargo area, and some nice looking ramps in the hallways. I was impressed how the author incorporated sloped surfaces into some of the walls, making them look a lot better than a normal vertical surface. The collapsed areas of hallways were also done well. They looked like they had caved in, and there was debris and wrecked beams strewn in to add a realistic feel. Also, in this level the sectors were not all rectangular and boring, but were different shapes and sizes. Some sectors were shaped similar to a dome, and they really added to the level. In the majority of other levels, all the ceilings are flat and rather dull, but in this one, architecture really shines. Texturing also flourished in Siege at Vol Kanst. I really thought the texture choices looked excellent, and they all fit their areas well. I didn't see more than one or two places where the textures didn't line up correctly, and I say again, everything looked really good. There was a great variety, ranging from a orange and black stripe texture for a set of interesting beams to some sterile white and grays for the infirmary. All in all, level design was excellent.
Dynamics / Interactivity
Enemy placement was commendable. The level offered an adequate challenge while remaining enjoyable. Small squads of stormtroopers hold areas, and are dispersed well. The author didn't use huge amounts of enemies, but they were placed well. One sentry droid held a large water pumping room, but even the firepower one of the little buggers makes you wish you hadn't tangled with it. Item placement was also very good. There were power-ups spread out through the level, and in enough quality to keep you reasonably healthy without making the level too easy. Shields were placed in ones and twos, and med kits were available. There wasn't a whole lot of extra ammo, but you could strip enough off of dead bodies to keep your guns loaded. Enemy and item placement combined to make a thoroughly enjoyable level. The COG enhancement also added to the enjoyment. Interesting things happened, like stormtroopers attacking civilians, sector thrusts pushing you out ventilation shafts, and cargo transports moving around in the cargo bay. A normal assortment of doors, button doors, elevators and forcefields made up a lot of the COG work. Some of the elevators moved diagonally, and I recall one that moved diagonally and then vertically again; they added a little variety to the elevators, and made things more interesting. Also, there was an assortment of cool secret areas, and a cutscene-like opening sequence added to the entertaining features of this level.
Playing Experience / Atmosphere
I really, really enjoyed this level. My only problem was that it was a little short, and it ends rather abruptly. It was a realistic thriller, and it's probably the best JK level, except perhaps for Remnants of the Empire. Gameplay was good, but there was a little frame rate drop in a few areas. I thought the author did good work on realism; there were work cranes in loading areas, and landing pads for ships. There was a real bacta tank in the medical facilities, and there were living quarters for the residents.
